DREAMFALL: THE LONGEST JOURNEY
Monday April 24, 2006.

The future holds secret just the past can reveal. Xbox Dreamfall: The Longest Journey is the sequel to a game entitled "The Longest Journey" for the PC. On the most mundane level, the game is a story about magic and technology and how they often blend into one another in subtle ways.

Three playable characters will each see the story unfold from a different perspective. It's also a story about knowledge and faith and how they are often enemies when they should be complements. Mostly though, it's a game, created using the ultimate in high technology, that manages to transcend its origins (and some not-insignificant gameplay flaws) to create a magical experience that no adventure game fan should miss.

You'll spend a total of about 15 hours playing through Dreamfall. The original The Longest Journey was the story of a young woman named April Ryan who discovers that our Earth (called Stark) has a magical twin called Arcadia. When the balance between the two worlds is violated, it's April who must step in and save both the realms of science and magic from being destroyed.

While the engine the game is running on isn't quite cutting-edge, the art direction in the game is simply spectacular. Stark, the scientific Earth, manages to be a convincing projection of our world some 200 years in the future.

The graphic beauty of the game is matched by the sounds. Sound effects are generally sharp and complement well the action onscreen. Music is definitely the strongest of Dreamfall's audio aspects, infusing each setting and scenario with an added layer of emotion and effect. Though ambient music dominates much of the audio landscape, you'll occasionally be treated to voiced tracks that, for the most part, are effective at building mood.

Xbox Dreamfall Features:

* Unparalleled variety - Use your brains or your brawn; sneak, fight or talk your way through the many challenges the game offers

* You never quite know what to expect next - Be polite or rude, threaten or sweet talk; in Dreamfall you make the choice

* Dreamfall spans three beautifully realized worlds, multiple chapters and a stunning amount of detailed locations
