Dungeon Siege II
Monday August 22, 2005.

Dungeon Siege II (DS2) is a fast-paced, hack-and-slash action PC game that will task you with creating a character with which you will plow through several evil creatures in order to save the magic world of Aranna.

Those expecting a straightforward dungeon hack will find those elements in spades, while the traditional RPG fan will also be rewarded with a long story and lots of world detail.

Dungeon Siege II (DS2) is the sequel to Dungeon Siege, an action fantasy role-playing game featuring an immersive fully 3-D environment. Among its improvement, DS2 has taken the original four character classes from the first Dungeon Siege and added considerable depth to each of them in the form of skills and powers to offer character development choices, a deeper story, and much more replay ability. This allows players to choose not only their character class, but also what 'type' of fighter, ranger, or mage they'd like to be.

This PC game that Microsoft has published introduces a lot of new features, such as the new skill system and a deeper party system. There is a substantial amount of randomization in the game, mixed in with handcrafted scenarios and boss monsters. One could spend a lot of time exploring this world.

Audio talking, this RPG has much more music, over eight hours of unique voice-overs, and many more special sound effects for spells and ambient effects.

Graphically, DS2 looks much better than the original. Dungeon Siege II has many more cinematic sequences and much more voice-over than the first game. We changed and optimized the renderer to work with DirectX 9, as the original Dungeon Siege was a DirectX 7 game.

Dungeon Siege II (DS2) support shaders, so it has 10 times the performance of the original. The game presents four times the texture detail and several times the polygonal density in the scenes. The hardware requirements are relatively forgiving. If you have a 32MB video card that supports hardware transform and lighting, you can play on a system with a 1GHz CPU.
