RESTAURANT EMPIRE
Monday Oct 30, 2006.

Start your franchise! As a PC video game platform, Restaurant Empire is the first video game that faithfully recreates all the challenges of designing, owning and operating a restaurant franchise through a blend of business-simulation and RPG gameplay.

Its storyline goes like this: You are Armand LeBeouf. You have just graduated from a French culinary school and are anxious to try your hand at running a restaurant. Your uncle, Michel LeBeouf, recently closed Treize Á Table (his restaurant) and is willing to give it to you if you prove yourself to be a good manager/chef.

Starting with nothing except some cash and a passion for food, build a restaurant from the bottom up--hire waiters, decorate, even cook the meals! Buy, build, outsell and, underprice your competition (Omnifood). Either way, you will be able to travel and meet with people that will help you establish your name as the greatest restaurateur the world has ever seen!

Featuring three culinary capitals to operate in, five restaurant cuisines to choose from, over 30 unique chefs to interact with and nearly 200 recipes to source, your business sense and culinary taste will be tested to the limit.

But becareful of Omnifood, a global culinary conglomerate, that controls over 60% of the world's restaurants and is rapidly growing. If you plan on being a successful restaurateur, you will need to be a real thing.

The graphics are not so great, but that doesn't bother me so much. There is also a sandbox mode, and a campaign mode. Both are great fun. Sandbox mode is basically building up your restaurant, then buying more restaurants and building them up. During the campaign mode, you are following a storyline of an up and coming chef who wants to take over a relative's restaurant. It's a cheesy storyline, but it's fun.
