Star Fox Command
Monday Aug 28, 2006.

DS video game Star Fox Command is an action video game that returns the franchise to the original and successful Star Fox and Star Fox 64 video game mechanics. In its storyline, Star Fox Command features both the futuristic space battles and the likable cast of characters that the series is known for, as for its 3D visuals featured in the DS.

The video game takes place while the Star Fox squadron prevent Dr. Andross's plans to take over their solar system. This video game brings a whole new strategic element to the franchise, with a commander's view of the mission. No on-foot missions, no ground running tanks. Star Fox Command keeps the characters permanently seatbelted inside their air combat vehicles.

DS Star Fox Command works really well on the dual-screen portable and offers unique touch controls that, with a little practice and a bit of acceptance, fits the classic gameplay with some awesome precision D-pads and analog sticks wish they could offer.

The video game is freshened up with unique touch-screen controls, new strategic elements, and four-player online play via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service. Players control their craft entirely by the touch screen, which is also doing double duty as an overhead map that displays every enemy in the level. Using the touch screen, players can draw the routes they and their teammates will take. Battle the enemies they encounter as they take over bases and strategically advance across the map

The impressive 3D visuals do a lot to make the game more appealing - environments are detailed and the game flows at a smooth 30 frames per second clip. The designers make it up to the players by adding a fun feature that allows them to record their own voice as all of the character's spoken gibberish.

Players can also blow their friends out of the sky, as they dogfight 8 players over a local wireless connection -- or take on 4 players from around the world on Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.
