Burnout 3: Takedown
Monday June 20, 2005.

Xbox speed racing videogame Burn out 3: Takedown improved everything which made the first two arcade games in the franchise great. Although, its Xbox Live performance is not a drastic change comparing it to predecessor Burnout 2, the pretty variations in control that allow gamers alter the way of it, made Burnout 3: Takedown a crucial must have.

The developers of this sort of arcade game, Criterion Games, pleased the minds of the average person, and found all that which is fun and sent it to the CD copiers. Playing Burnout 3, Xbox owners will experience the Crash mode intensively awsome: crashes are now bigger and better. Gamers may control their performances by "steering" the cars path through the carnage as they try to get extra bonus points, while at the same time trying to further boost their score with the multiplayer and crashbraker.

The big addition to the third game in the series is the Takedown bonus. Like the arcade classics we grew up with, the scores in Burnout 3: Takedown mean something, and become a goal to attain. If a player does well with both the races and crash modes in the World Tour, they are rewarded with new cars, new race events, and invitations to international races. Don't underestimate the extra bonuses given for meeting optional goals, like taking down five opponents during a race. Just in case, it's not necessary that a player win every Takedown tournament in order to receive gratification. That's an added attraction from the makers.

However everything that the game manages to achieve in the offline mode is blown to pieces when you go online due to the implement of Xbox Live mode, when it forces Xbox players to all attempt crashes in a single-player style way without being able to see your opponent's crashes happening in realtime. Meanwhile, they can only send text based messages to friends using an on-screen keyboard, which takes ages to type messages instead of short voice messages as supported by Xbox Live 3.0.

On top of this you'll need to decide if you are going to run in 50Hz or 60Hz from the Xbox dashboard before going online, as you can only play other gamers who are running the game at the same refresh rate, which instantly adds confusion for gamers who have friends running the game on a television with a different refresh rate but can't join them.

Burnout 3: Takedown d elivers Xbox console owners a range of game modes along with tight controls and stunning graphics. In short, this title is easily one of the greatest arcade racing games ever made.
