People say this may be the PlayStation 2’s most stunning visual game to date, and it's hard to imagine anything else topping it. This videogame looks simply amazing and gives you a different picture of what PlayStation 2 is capable of.
The Tekken series has almost been around for ten years. In that period, this game became one of the first 3D fighting videogames in arcades, but its real fame was found in the home of gamers. The PlayStation, and later the PlayStation 2, has been the Tekken series’ familiar territory for the past decade.
Many players fell it was better that Tekken 5 made improvements on the original game rather than being rebuilt from the ground. The fighting in this videogame is some of the best fighting available in 3D or 2D, and its multiple levels of depth give beginners enough moves to quickly feel comfortable playing it, while intermediate and expert players can dig deeper to find more interesting techniques or game cheats.
The fighters in Tekken 5 are strong and cool. One of the factors that make the game look realistic is it seems like the punching moves hurt. This is something that many other fighting videogames seem to miss. Part of that is due to the great-looking particle effects that blast off of heavy hits, but a great deal of it is also due to the game's outstanding animation.
When it comes to image quality and character models, you'd be hard pressed to find a better looking PlayStation 2 game than this. Once the player sees the visual improvements on this game, they will think twice wether it really was made for PlayStation 2, Xbox or PC.
The main single-player mode of play in Tekken 5 is the story mode. This mode takes the player through a handful of fights, starting with some still frames and voice-over to help you understand what each individual fighter is fighting for. Each character of this videogame has unique customization options, and the options are different for each of a character's two primary costumes.
The arcade mode is where you'll earn your gold, and it's sort of an endless arcade-style battle against the game's artificial intelligence.
And you might come back to the arcade history mode, which turns the player to the arcade versions of the original “Tekken,” “Tekken 2,” and “Tekken 3.”
