Previously known and shown as Balloon Trip, Nintendo is once again pairing up Yoshi and Baby Mario for an action platform game. Using the Nintendo DS system's two screens and touch screen capability, players must help Yoshi guard Baby Mario from harmful Shy Guys and other Mario-type enemies as he floats defenselessly to the ground.
With lovely characters like Baby Mario, Yoshi, Baby Luigi, Kammy Koopa, t his videogame began its life as a simple tech demo for the Nintendo DS, to showcase the functions of the Nintendo DS. There are two basic level types vertical-scrolling and side-scrolling. On vertical-action levels you have to keep a slowly descending Baby Mario out of harm's way. And on a side-scrolling level, you have to keep Yoshi, who happens to be carrying Baby Mario, out of harm's way.
Either way, the game can become challenging rather quickly. It doesn't really push the technical envelope for the DS, but it's a good package to look at. This is definitely a case where gameplay takes precedence over presentation.
The game's objective is to overcome all sorts of obstacles to guide Yoshi to safety. It is also structured in a way that you'll develop a rote memorization skill because some levels appear more than once. Yoshi's Touch & Go features two-player wireless play, and pleasantly, you only need one copy of the game to play. The gameplay concepts that are at work here are quite sounds.
Key Features:
- See how far into the island you can get in Endurance Mode, play for high scores in Score Attack or take on a friend in vs. mode using the wireless link of the Nintendo DS.
- On vertical-scrolling levels, use the stylus to draw clouds to encircle enemies, throw coins and guide Baby Mario through the dangerous skies.
- Yoshi and Baby Mario are back together at long last, and it'll take a steady hand to guide them through their latest adventure!
- Onward, Yoshi! As Yoshi charges across the island, use the stylus to throw eggs at enemies, lead him to egg-replenishing fruit and make him jump over danger!
